Privacy policy

No links here are currently paid; some may earn us commission in future. How we make money

Last updated: 28 Oct 2026

This policy explains how New Business HQ ("we") handles personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

We don't ask you for personal details, except anything you choose to send through our suggestions form, newsletter sign-up or a free account (see below). The calculator runs in your browser and sends nothing to us. Our hosting provider (Wix) may process technical data such as your IP address to serve and secure the site.

Suggestions form

If you use our suggestions page, we collect what you type: your message, the type of suggestion, and your name and email address if you choose to give them. We use this only to read and improve the site, and, if you gave an email address, to reply to you. Submissions are stored in our Wix account (Wix Forms). We don’t sell or share them, add you to a mailing list, or use them for marketing. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in running and improving the site. We keep suggestions for up to 24 months, then delete them. You can ask us to see or delete yours at any time.

Newsletter

If you sign up to our newsletter, we collect your email address and a record of your consent (that you ticked the box, and when). We use it only to send the NBHQ newsletter: new guides, fee changes and reminders. The box is never ticked for you. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Your address is stored in our Wix account (Wix Forms, Contacts and Email Marketing). We never sell or share it. Our lawful basis is your consent. If you unsubscribe, we keep only a record that you opted out, so we don’t email you again.

Accounts (My NBHQ)

If you create a free account, Wix handles the sign-up and login for us. We store your login email (and your name if a Google or Facebook login shares it), the guides you save and any notes you write. Your saved guides and notes are private to you: other members and visitors can’t see them. We use this data only to run your account. We never sell or share it, or use it for marketing. Our lawful basis is contract: providing the account you asked for. We keep it until you delete your account.

On My NBHQ you can download all your data as a file, and delete your account, which permanently deletes your saved guides and notes too. Deleting your account doesn’t unsubscribe you from the newsletter; use the link in any email for that.

Affiliate links

Links to providers currently go straight to their official pages, with no tracking codes from us. If we join an affiliate programme in future, the provider or its affiliate network may use cookies to record referrals, and we'll update this policy. Providers' own privacy policies apply on their sites.

Analytics and cookies

We don't currently run our own analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, we'll update this page and ask for consent where required.

Strictly necessary storage: our forms and accounts use your browser’s local storage to keep a short-lived Wix access token (and, if you log in, a refresh token so you stay logged in). Wix’s login page may also set its own strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in. These are needed for the features you use, so they don’t need consent under PECR. Logging out removes the token. They aren’t used for tracking or advertising.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, and you can complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
